Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 3 October 2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply to quotes and work supplied by John Devon Cabinetry & Joinery ([Business legal name], ABN [ABN]) (“we”, “us”) and to your use of this website. A written quote or contract for your project may add to or replace these terms for that project. If there is a conflict, the signed contract applies.
2. Quotes
- Quotes are based on the plans, measurements and specifications available when the quote is prepared.
- Unless stated otherwise, a quote is valid for 30 days from the date it is issued.
- Prices are in Australian dollars. Whether GST is included will be stated on the quote.
- Changes to the design, materials, dimensions or scope after acceptance may change the price and timeframe. We will confirm any change with you in writing before proceeding.
3. Accepting a quote and deposits
A quote is accepted when you confirm it in writing and pay the deposit stated on the quote. The deposit secures your place in our schedule and allows us to order materials. Progress payments and the final balance will be set out in the quote or contract.
4. Site measure and design
We measure on site before finalising drawings. You are responsible for checking and approving the drawings, dimensions, finishes and appliance specifications before manufacture begins. Once you have approved the drawings and manufacture has started, changes may not be possible or may incur extra cost.
5. Materials and finishes
Timber, stone and other natural materials vary in colour, grain and texture, and finishes can look different under different lighting. Samples and images are a guide only. These natural variations are not a defect.
6. Timeframes
Dates we give are estimates. They depend on factors such as material supply, access to the site, and other trades finishing their work on time. We will tell you promptly if we expect a delay.
7. Site access and preparation
You agree to give us safe, clear access to the site during agreed hours. Unless the quote says otherwise, work such as plumbing, electrical, gas, flooring, painting and structural changes is carried out by others and must be completed to the stage needed for installation.
8. Payment
Invoices are payable by the due date shown on them. We may pause work or delay delivery if payments are overdue. Ownership of the goods stays with us until they have been paid for in full.
9. Variations and cancellations
Please tell us as soon as possible if you want to cancel or change an order. Once materials have been ordered or manufacture has started, we may keep the part of the deposit that covers costs we have already incurred or committed to. This does not limit any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
10. Warranty and consumer guarantees
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Where we offer a workmanship warranty, its length and conditions will be set out in your quote or contract. Warranties do not cover damage from misuse, accidents, excessive moisture or heat, unauthorised modification, or normal wear and tear. Appliances and hardware supplied by others carry the manufacturer’s own warranty.
11. Care of your cabinetry
We will give you care instructions on handover. Following them helps protect your warranty and keeps your kitchen looking its best.
12. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim is limited to the cost of re-supplying the goods or services, or having them re-supplied. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
13. Photos of our work
We may take photos of completed work for our portfolio, website and social media. We will not publish your name or exact address without your permission. Tell us if you would rather we did not photograph your project.
14. Website use
Content on this website, including text, images and the John Devon name and logo, belongs to us or is used with permission. You may view it for personal use but must not copy or reuse it commercially without our written consent. Images and descriptions are a general guide to our work and do not form an offer. We take care to keep the site accurate but do not guarantee it is always up to date or error-free.
15. Privacy
How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
16. Disputes and governing law
If a problem comes up, please send us a message first so we can work it out together. These terms are governed by the laws of Tasmania, and both parties submit to the courts of Tasmania.
